Antonio & Dolores Gutierrez had a dream of owning their own restaurant, being that Dolores had a great gift for preparing food that was loved by Mexican & American people alike. In 1949 they started out in a partnership with "Tony's Place" & then making their dream more complete as sole owners of EL CHARRO CAFE on Holy Friday of 1949. El Charro took part in the history of Old Yuma, and is now well implanted in the present "modern" Yuma.
El Charro Cafe was originally located on Fourth Avenue, where La Mesa Cafe and American food restaurant had existed. The capacity was 50 people, but with the exquisite recipes of Mexican & American food and the all time favorite "El Green Saddle" they soon moved to a bigger place, which is our present location.
In 1975 the restaurant was passed on to their son Raul known as "Sonny" and is presently owned and managed by himself and his wife, Adriana who have kept the original recipes Faithfully and plan on passing the tradition from gerneration to generation.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS!
WE ALL HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!
