Antonio and Dolores Gutierrez had a dream of owning their own restaurant.  Dolores Gutierrez had a great gift of preparing food that was loved by Mexican and Americans alike. In 1947 they started with Tony's Place and then completed their dream by becoming the owners of El Charro Cafe in 1949.

The original restaurant's capacity was 50 people, but with the exquisite recipes of Meixcan food and the favorite El Green Saddle recipe, a larger place was needed. They then moved to El Charro to the current location.

In 1975, the restaurant was passed on to their son Raul, "Sonny" Gutierrez.  The recipes were also faithfully passed on.  The Gutierrez Family strives to continue the tradition of serving exquisite food along with friendly service.

El Charro has been voted Yuma's Best Mexican Food by the citizens of Yuma

The Gutierrez Family would like to say.

" Thank you for your patronage."
